1/3 cup melted butter 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup dark Karo® syrup 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. salt 2 cups oatmeal 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Line a 13x9x2 inch pan with non-stick aluminum foil. Mix all ingredients except the chocolate chips and pat out in the pan. Flatten firmly.
Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes. Don't overbake or the results will be too carmelized and tough. There shouldn't be much browning.
Immediately upon removal from the oven, cover with the chocolate chips. Let stand 5 minutes while the chips melt; then spread uniformly over the surface.
Let stand a couple of hours or until the chocolate topping is no longer gooey. Remove from the pan (which should be trivial if non-stick foil was used), place on a cutting board and slice into bars with a long knife.
